prelude in c - waaaaay to fast
Rhythmically, that does not sound like mazurka. And tempo is all over the place.
Forgot two of the best ever: Pollini and Benedetti-Michelangeli. It makes all the rest somehow letting you waiting for the best. Yet the best does not come. Not worth watching, so very biased.
I wouldn't have a clue which is best as a recent learner and so much information, I would say the basics you need then go with what feels easier for you and go with the flow.
Fei, Fei! I love your teaching. Your English is virtually perfect. You can teach any where in the world including Europe, USA, Japan and Korea. I am sure that your students will be one of the best pianists in the world!
What an amazing life!
Sound is so important. It changes in every space with every instrument. Use of pedals changes depending on those variables, and how you play changes. I dampen my home piano to get the sound that I like. Just the process of asking this question while practicing or performing opens up so much possibility. Such great tip, but its value might not be immediately clear to everyone.
These videos are really expressing some rather superficial cliches about this music, I’m at a loss as to how the image of peeking at Chopin crying is going to give me any ideas as to how to interpret his music.
Another esoteric point just posted out as a sound bite. Are we supposed to imagine what it all means like we are imagining how the sound bounces off a column in the hall we are playing?
This format is poorly conceived, there is no evidence of how what its stated can be improved/achieved. The click-bait culture is invading Tonebase and it’s rather disappointing.
Love Seymour Bernstein!!
God, I hate shorts. Give me something meaningful
Exactly. No substance.
The last few minutes of this lesson ,spoken so eloquently by Mr. Bernstein, reminds me of how Yunchan Lim approaches his music learning process and projects it all to every note he plays.
The skinny pete theme
Im a middle beater i guess, i barely move my head when playing😅
I heard no LH voices btw
I was trying also to hear them to no avail.
It didn't even look like he knew the LH part lol - he's dusting the keys😂
Such an important point!
fabulous technique and voicing. but why does he wear these tacky robe things all the time
I heard no voicing whatsoever on the left hand chords. Perhaps I’m missing something?
@@davidcblock neither have I heard. I was expecting left handed voicing, but no.
Seymour je car 👑
Marta Argerich is the best of the best!! Just amazing emotion.
If classical music isn't dead, it should be. No culture that insists to live in the past survives, and that's how it should be.
Hanon helps me solve my insomnia, but it gives me neck problem
You have forgotten to say-show, what do they do so badly.
My point exactly. It’s the pervasive (perverse) culture of just mentioning in passing… oh you just don’t look good, you could do so much better…
Pre-2016 Sam Smith dropping piano wisdom on us!
With that coat it’s more close to modern era lol
“I have to wretch compositions out of a heart that is inwardly torn” F Chopin
1:44 please?
Reminds me of Katsaris' voicings
The only reason to be happy with this is because of the amount of time and effort spent in the video and it shows how much effort is needed to make it look good for the camera
Agent Smith is really into the classical music…
Interesting. I'm not a classical music enthusiast but I always associated Chopin more with Mozart. Their piano pieces sound like they are singing. At least to make, I don't know if that makes sense for others though.
This video contains many good rules of thumb
No
That edit at 7:15 is hilarious!
You need to be able to sight transpose only if you're working with the kind of singer who presents you with a score in D and says, "I sing it in B flat." If you're a soloist or chamber player, you don't need that skill.
hey he was my teacher
These masterclasses are pure gold.
吉田秀和氏はFM放送でスクリアビンの9番のソナタにアムランの録音を選んでいた。意外だったけれど聴いて納得した。あの曲のベストかも知れない。
But Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli??????? Maurizio Pollini?????????? italian pianist ????????????????? I'm very sorry because you don't talk about the greatest pianists in Italy and, if you allow, in the whole world who have ever lived. But Glenn Gould?????????? You have forgotten the greatest of all in my opinion.
I would have liked to see Mitsuko Uchida included amongst the others, as she has the most even legato of any pianist I’m aware of. Please do a sequel! 😂 PS: personal anecdote- My university piano teacher, Claire Richards at Univ. of IL, told me to stop trying to imitate anyone else’s technique (“You’ve reached the stage where you have your own technique”) because she just felt everyone’s anatomy was unique. Once I stopped obsessing on curling my fingers like my high school teacher harped on weekly, my Chopin improved immediately. 😂
When I learnt the piano 50 years ago, I was taught to use my fingers and hands like hammers. A few years ago I went to a potential teacher, and when I played for him, he criticised my technique and insisted that I play with flat fingers. I was unwilling to comply and so I never realised his potential!
I love this woman! She gets it.
When I was about 10 years old, my piano teacher, a Julliard graduate, assigned me that famous (infamous?) Mozart piece for next week's lesson. I'd never heard the piece before (hard to believe, but true - my parents were into music but not 'classical music'). And do you know what? I played the piece *exactly* like Gould! Needless to say, I was gently but firmly castigated by my teacher who 'corrected' my interpretation. I've been playing it (rarely, nowadays) my teacher's way, the 'correct' way, ever since. Sad, really.
I learned so much about this piece that makes me want to dig it back out and play it
bernstein has always been an obnoxiously pretentious musician.
She won because she is decades better than you
Who is playing the Chopin op 10 #3 in the background?
"Keep that pig out of my garden."
I just want to leave this here and see what happens.
Ok
Please shave
I Would add his own HR#2 cadenza
